I learned that participants didn’t know how their payments would be applied across multiple promotional purchases. Some indicated that they might want to pay off specific purchases first or otherwise have flexibility in deciding what they might be able to pay down.

I narrow down redesign topics by referring back to user’s main tasks and the product mission. However, after competitive analysis, I understood the use cases, got familiar with the design patterns, and got the inspiration for the redesign. Most getting the user in the front door is our home page. Credit card promotional offers are reliable when you are in a pinch and need to make big-ticket purchases. Many of them offer promotions for a specified period of time, but they're not always super easy to understand...

Most participants thought that the “apply” button would take them directly to the application. As a result, I modified the “Apply” language to “Find a card to apply”, which better set expectations for the next steps in the process. We see partnership as critical to our mission. We partner with churches, organizations and individuals throughout the St. Louis region who are dedicated to a cross-cultural ministry.
