By transcribing those testimonies and converting them to a digital format, we are now able to analyze it using a text visualization tool called Voyant. Voyant allows us to find trends and correlations among frequencies of words and phrases in the text. To do this, we’ve put all of the transcriptions completed thus far into one singular document, and pasted it all into Voyant. Using the different visualization tools, we can “deform” the text, or see it from new abstract points of view. By deforming the text and performing a distant read of it, we can get a better understanding of the content of the text objectively by observing patterns and relationships that might go unnoticed in a close reading.

Morant, who is graces the cover of a recent issue of SLAM, is enjoying a fantastic rookie campaign. However, with sporting leagues around the globe shutting down due to coronavirus, it might be a while before he can finish it. "Go back to your house! Go back to your house. I don't need you over here," his father jokingly responded. It was confirmed that the 23-year-old signed a five-year rookie maximum extension worth £165 million ($193m), which could rise to £197 million ($231m). Just a few weeks on from signing his eye-watering new contract, Morant has seemingly already been out spending his big money. In 2019, the Mountain Brook Cove Land Trust purchased the property next door for $1.334.

That home was purchased for $1.334 million back in 2019, according to the MBJ. They were ousted in Round 1 by the Lakers, getting eliminated in a 40-point loss to close a series where trash-talking and antics became as much of a storyline as actual playing of basketball. Morant’s five-year, $194 million max contract is set to begin this coming season.

The Washington Post later reported that, after the fight, the teen also accused Morant of going into his house and coming back out with a gun in his waistband and his hand on the gun. The teen told the police he accidentally hit Morant in the face with the basketball during the argument, which led Morant to punch the boy, knocking him to the ground, and then repeatedly hit him with the help of another man. The suspension included the six games Morant missed when he voluntarily stepped away from the team to seek help. The suspension cost Morant nearly $700,000 of his $12.1 million salary, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Ja Morant's new home is located right next door to his parent's home in Eads, TN.
The players' union called the suspension "excessive and inappropriate." Some felt the penalty was not harsh enough. With new representation, Morant will enter next season as a LIFT Sports client, joining several other NBA players who are with the agency. Morant was selected by the Grizzlies with the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft, and was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2020. At the conclusion of the season, Morant won the NBA Most Improved Player Award, and he was also selected to his first All-NBA Team.

Morant was only lightly recruited by NCAA Division I programs and unranked by recruiting services, despite having been named All-Region Most Valuable Player three times and earning All-State honors at Crestwood High School in Sumter, South Carolina. Nevertheless, he made an immediate impact at Murray State University, earning first-team all-conference honors in the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) as a freshman. He had a breakout sophomore season; it saw him win OVC Player of the Year as well as lead the NCAA in assists. As a sophomore, Morant became the first player in NCAA history to average 20-plus points and 10-plus assists per game for a single season.
Enter Ja Morant, the renowned NBA player who recently inked a jaw-dropping $193 million contract. Apart from lucrative paychecks, Morant also earns from his endorsement deals. For instance, he signed a multiyear contract with Nike in 2019 worth $12 million, and Morant also has an endorsement deal with Beats By Dre. In both visualizations, the term “house” is surrounded by words with negative connotations– “burn,” “disturbed,” “took,” and “shot.” One’s house is supposed to be a safe place; a refuge and a shelter from the dangers of the outside world.
The team also changed their travel routine at the end of the season.

He played college basketball for the Murray State Racers, where he was a consensus first-team All-American as a sophomore in 2019. The heart of Morant’s home lies in its generously sized living room, where warmth and sophistication converge. This communal space is thoughtfully designed to encourage both relaxation and socialization. Whether it’s unwinding after a game or hosting gatherings with friends and family, this living room is a central hub that radiates comfort. His father Tee sits courtside at home games and gained a new level of popularity during the first-round of the NBA playoffs because of a playful feud with Karl Anthony-Towns Sr. NBA star Ja Morant has shown off his brand new mansion, as well as revealing that his family will be living right next door.
During a January game against the Indiana Pacers, at least one friend of Morant appeared to get into a verbal altercation with players. Devonte Pack, the same friend accused of also punching the teenager at Morant's house, was seemingly ejected from his seat. According to Molly Hensley-Clancy of The Washington Post, the head of security at a Memphis mall filed a police report saying Morant "threatened" him during an altercation in the parking lot. "Ja Morant's decision to once again wield a firearm on social media is alarming and disconcerting given his similar conduct in March for which he was already suspended eight games," NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement. This is the second suspension this year and comes after a second video appeared to show him holding a gun. This was similar to the incident that led to his first suspension, which lasted eight games.
Property records show Morant’s nearly14,000-square-foot, 7-bedroom home was purchased by his former teammate Kyle Anderson in 2018 for $2.31 million. Entertainment is taken to new heights with a dedicated game room, where friends and family can gather for spirited competitions. The game room features a billiards table, a poker table, and various arcade games, providing endless entertainment options. In a world filled with chaos and controversies, it’s refreshing to take a moment and appreciate the finer things in life.
The interior is just as grand, with tile, marble, and hardwood floors, recessed lighting, crystal chandeliers, and built in bookshelves. On the back of the home, there is a large, oval balcony with an outdoor fireplace and floor to ceilings windows that overlook the gorgeous backyard. Keeping the same aesthetic, the same stone exterior from the front of the home can be seen making up with the patio surrounding the swimming pool. MBJ reports that the same home was owned by former NBA star Monta Ellis before selling to Anderson, and that Ellis had purchased it from the late Grizzlies star Lorenzen Wright.
Ja posted to social media that his parents and little sister are his new neighbors. Enter the home of NBA star Ja Morant and join us on a tour through Ja Morant House. Ever since making the NBA, Morant made his presence felt by winning Rookie of the Year honors before taking home the Most Improved Player of the Year award. However, his public image took a big hit after twice displaying a gun on social media in 2023. During an off-season pickup basketball game at Morant's house last July, a 17-year-old accused Morant of attacking him after a verbal altercation, according to court records obtained by TMZ.
It could have escalated to a supermax if he made All-NBA this season; he was not voted onto that team, which cost him about $39 million in future earnings. He has endorsement deals with Nike and Powerade, though the sports drink company pulled an ad featuring Morant almost immediately after the March video emerged. According to The Athletic, "acquaintances" of Morant confronted members of the Pacers near their team bus after the game. In just his fourth season in the NBA, the 23-year-old Morant is already seen by many as the future face of the NBA, following in the steps of LeBron James and Steph Curry.
